Hi! My name is Jessica and I’m a mid-30s working, married mom of 1 who is embarking on a journey as a new runner and as a 100+ pounds weight loss maintainer. I started this blog in August 2013 when I achieved Lifetime status at Weight Watchers as a tool to help me stay accountable and keep those 111 pounds gone for good! When I reached my goal weight last month, I also decided to commit myself to a big new activity goal – the Princess Half Marathon in Walt Disney World in February 2014. This blog will chronicle my adventures as a new runner (thank goodness I’m willing to laugh at myself!), my challenges as a woman trying to balance being a wife/mom/worker bee/healthy individual and steps along the path to maintaining this healthy lifestyle. Hopefully my path will help someone else someday!
When I first started this journey, my husband gave me a Dove chocolate wrapper that said “Do a little more each day than you think you possibly can.” I now know that this quote is from Lowell Thomas, but for months, it was just the little reminder on my bulletin board that I didn’t have to be perfect – I just had to try a little harder than I had before. The effort in itself has value. I remind myself of this all the time and it has helped me battle my own perfectionism more often than I can count on this journey.
