TotR: Scenes from my Run

on February 9, 2016

Today’s Tuesdays on the Run topic is Scenes from your Run (or something like that – love when things get all mixed up!) and I’m envious of everyone else’s good weather and scenic routes near their homes! Nebraska hasn’t had much of that lately. Thanks as always to Patty, Erika and Marcia for hosting.

Far too many of my runs lately have been filled with dodging snow in my neighborhood:

Colder than I expected but at least I got to run outside for 7 miles

I do love that I at least have this little windmill and pond to make me smile when I’m running in my neighborhood, which is the only remotely scenic piece of my routes through the burbs. 🙂 I know a lot of my daily run pics feature this guy and it’s because this is usually the spot where I stop and realize “Oh, it IS a lovely day to run.”

Thankfully, when the weather is better I have some gorgeous park trails to run through around town, so I’m not always stuck with the treadmill or the suburbs.

My favorite scenes on the run are naturally the ones I get when I travel. All three of my cities this spring (New Orleans, Baltimore & Memphis) are places where I’m going to have to be a little careful about running alone. It isn’t absolutely a “no” to run alone in those cities, but I’m going to be selective about when and where. To cheer myself up on yet another cold and icy day in Omaha, I thought I’d wander back through my favorite running scenes for the last few  years.

Running the Golden Gate Bridge was unforgettable!

Minnie was excited for my run. :)

Some sections were too rocky to run, but on stretches like this I couldn't keep my feet on the ground.

Running has definitely allowed me to see some beautiful places. I can’t wait to see what’s next! What’s your favorite place to run?

Some great pictures ! Love the Disney ones !

  2. Jen says:

I ran solo in the Baltimore Inner Harbor and felt very safe. You’ll love it!

  3. It’s so fun to run in new places! I can’t say that I have a favorite because there is beauty everywhere. You just have to find it.

  4. Christina can probably tell you where to run in NOLA! (I wouldn’t in the F.Q. but I do see people doing it there. And there is a lot of cobblestone streets and cracked sidewalks)

  5. Anna says:

Love the scenery – you have run in some awesome places – go you!!!

  6. HoHo Runs says:

You’ve run in some very beautiful places. I think my favorite half marathons were in very wooded and secluded areas. One was in the woods inside Callaway Gardens in Georgia. Another was in the canyons of Colorado — and all downhill too!

  7. Beautiful pictures! I will certainly be able to help you out with finding places to run in New Orleans! I haven’t ventured out much from my 2-3 regular routes; I really should though so I can experience some prettier scenery!
